Winter is finally behind us and we’re looking forward to the Spring Weather, which is just perfect for a London Bike Ride! Are you looking to explore a new side of London? Famously, Samuel Johnson said, “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of Life, for there is in London all that life can afford.” Our City is full of diversity and never ending avenues of discovery. From the Chic of Chelsea to the Up and Coming Edginess of Hackney, London offers so much in the way of diversity, culture, urban architecture, cuisine and history. So why not jump on your trusty two wheeler and go and explore some of the most famous (and more secret) sides that London has to offer with our list of London’s Top Bike Rides!
Blackfriars Bridge - Victoria Embankment
Probably one of London’s most captivating view points is from Blackfriars Bridge. With St Pauls, The Shard and The Tate Modern Gallery you can spot some of London’s most iconic buildings whilst fitting in a world-class art show! It’s no wonder that Blackfriars Bridge is a big draw for London’s Urban Cyclists. Continue your cycle ride through Victoria Embankment and then cross back via London's Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge Road and you will have experienced some of Central London's most Iconic and quintessential sights.
Hyde Park
How could we not include London’s Most Iconic Park and Green Space in our list of London’s Top Cycle Routes? Hyde Park spans 350 acres of beautifully tended grassland. Loop all the way around or criss cross depending on how adventurous you are! Hyde Park is generally flat allowing for easy comfortable riding and with a number of designated cycle lanes you’ll feel right at home with your bike. If you want a quiet ride it might be best to avoid weekends as it is generally one of London’s most popular outings and one of London’s Top Cycle Routes!
Richmond Park
London’s largest park and with the capacity of 1500 Velodromes! Another popular location for cycling and those who are on the hunt for London’s Top Cycle Routes! It is best to go as early as possible on the day when you’ll have Richmond Park, it’s Huge Lake and the Red & Fallow Deer all to yourself to enjoy. The Tamsin Trail is the perfect Bike Ride Outing looping the entire 2500 acres of Richmond Park and to top it off with a quintessential view of London icons St Pauls and the city’s famed Financial District. Don’t have a bike but still fancy a jaunt through Richmond? Bikes are available for hire for 4 fours = £12. The entire loop around Richmond Park is over 7 miles long and ideal for all types of cycle riding, whether more serious training or for a family bike ride outing!
Regents Park
The Regent Park Loop, 4.4 Km of specially designed loops and chains for Cyclists make this one of London's Top Cycle Routes. The Regents Park Loop is one of London’s most popular centers for cycle training and thus prepares to factor in the crowds of cyclists, who just like yourself are thinking of putting themselves through their paces by preparing often for timed race events. Look out for the Giraffes whilst cycling the Outer Cycle which cuts through London Zoo!
Putney Heath
Sleepy South West London has a hidden gem in Putney Heath. Take a break from the crowds at Richmond Park and check out this quieter, more relaxing but just as green and leafy park. Make sure to check out the Free Windmill Museum, built in 1817 and a remarkable focal point for the history of Putney Heath. Putney Heath is home to a rich array of wildlife and quaint ponds, perfect for that early morning or late afternoon cycle ride through London.
Epping Forest
OK, Epping Forest is not directly within the metropolitan borough of London. However we just have to include Epping Forest on our list of Top London Cycle Routes. Only 25 minutes from London Liverpool Street Station and with over 6000 acres of rich prime and untouched forest trails awaiting you make sure to get away from the hustle and bustle of London and reconnect with your inner zen through the natural trails on offer making this the perfect London Cycle Ride!
London to Brighton
Every June and commencing just a stone's throw away from our workshop location right here in Clapham - We just had to include Europe's Oldest Charity Bike Ride London to Brighton on our list of Top London Cycle Routes. Commencing from Clapham Common and taking in such icons as the heroic Ditchling Beacon where you’ll be put through your hill climbing abilities. With 55 Miles of glorious country lanes, the rest of the journey on to Brighton is a relative cruise as the gradient decreases and the glorious views of the channel sea unfurl before you. This route can be completed in a day and taking the train back to London can be seen as a reward and a great day's cycle well done..
